STARK
AMBULANCE began in 1977 in Massillon, Ohio. Owner Ron Cordray, and
then partner Roger Baker, bought a used ambulance and began the first
true Paramedic Emergency Service in western Stark County.
Ron
and Roger worked 24 hours a day, six days a week. They continued
this schedule for the first few years they were in business. As the
business
grew, Ron added another unit and bought out Rogers share of
the company. By
the mid 1980s, STARK AMBULANCE serviced Massillon
and Perry Twp.
Fire Departments, the two local hospitals and all the
nursing homes in western Stark County. Ron also expanded into the
Canton area in 1987. STARKS business continues to grow as a
company with a reputation for excellence in patient care.
Ron
Cordray, coming from the street side of the business, understands
the
importance of quality compassionate care to the patient. To
this day,
he believes this to be the basis of STARK AMBULANCES
success. Ron
has also proved to be a very shrewd business man. He guided
MEDICAL TRANSPORT SYSTEMS through many changes in a
very competitive
market. When the trend began for the conglomerates to
buy out the smaller
companies, both nationwide and in our area, Ron opted
to turn down
some very lucrative offers and instead has forged the way to
set the
example for independent companies to continue to grow. Taking
those
large ambulance companies head on.
A
sister company called SUMMIT AMBULANCE was started in 1995.
This second
company is located in Barberton, Ohio, in Summit County, with
a second
location now in Cuyahoga Falls. The combination of Stark/
Summit Ambulance
has seen a dramatic increase in business since
1996. The Company has
experienced a 150% growth in run volume,
during that time period.
The Stark Division has expanded again and is
now operating 24
hours a day in Alliance and surrounding townships. A
brand new office
and quarters has just been completed, and is located
at 2000 McCrea
Street in the City of Alliance, currently housing two 24
hour ALS Units
and one day ALS Unit and 2 Wheelchair Units.
Today, STARK AMBULANCE is Stark Countys biggest and
busiest ambulance
service.
SUMMIT AMBULANCE is also growing at a significant rate.
Our
business now includes a highly specialized MOBILE
INTENSIVE CRITICAL
CARE DIVISION.
STARK
AMBULANCES success is based on our history. The medics in
the
field, the management team, and the owner is committed to
quality compassionate patient
care in the communities in which we serve.
